What's new: the book R.E.P.O.R.T.

Hi Reader,

Happy Labor Day Weekend! (if you're celebrating)

I was away on summer vacation last week and catching up this week, so I thought doing a R.E.P.O.R.T. for the holiday weekend with everything happening around here would be fun. This is one you'll want to peruse with a cup of coffee!

R - Reading

Kiss Me at Christmas by Jenny Bayliss (kindle) - As a book blogger, I have to start early on holiday releases. This one is super cute! There's a holiday play, a bit of over 40 romance, and lots of festive vibes. At GREAT start.

Deacon King Kong by James McBride (hardcover) - This backlist Oprah's Book Club book has been high on my list since I read and loved his most recent bestseller, The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store. I'm just getting started, but it has a similar writing style so far.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister (audio) - The backlist Reese's Book Club thriller has been on my list forever since it gets such rave reviews. I'm definitely intrigued by the plot.

E - Eating

Oy. Between summer and summer vacation, I'm on a DETOX! Smoothies, soups, and salads for me til further notice. I'm replacing my wine with yummy Poppi "healthy sodas" and will switch to tea when the weather cools.

P - Playing

Treadmill paired with my Gilmore Girls rewatch! I just started season 4 in time for fall.

O - Obsessing

Martha's Vineyard vibes! We visit every summer, and I am fresh off my Vineyard high.

(I updated my Martha's Vineyard travel guide and Martha's Vineyard bookstore guide.)

By the way, next year, we'll be getting new books set on Martha's Vineyard by two of my favorite historical fiction authors, Martha Hall Kelly and Brooke Lea Foster!

R - Recommending

I've been on a low-spend year, but Labor Day Sales have still caught my eye.

My favorite GAP sweater is extra 60% off so I grabbed another. It's thick, cozy, and oversized (but true to size) but all cotton (so not itchy). Say no more, right?!

Speaking of sweaters, J.Crew Factory's "Rory Gilmore Sweater" is on a Labor Day sale this weekend. (See more of my "Rory" sweater picks for 2024.)

Olive & June is offering two free nail polishes with $40 orders. I just updated my fall nail ideas if you need help deciding what to buy. (New customers always get 20% off their first system purchase with my code OJJULIANNEB20.)

Lastly, Barnes & Noble's Book Haul is back! Get 50% off hundreds of hardcovers and more.

T - Treating

My absolute favorite fall candle EVER, Nest's Autumn Plum, is on sale for 25% off with code FALL25. It may sound like a weird scent for fall, but just trust me on this one. My sister is a "pumpkin everything" person, and I've got her hooked on this scent instead! It's the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. A once-a-year indulgence!

Remember, it's a good day to read a book.

-Jules
